The client-agency relationship is more than just a business transaction. If this relationship is managed poorly, it can ruin the reputation of a vendor. On the other hand, if it is managed properly, it can lead into a great success of business. In order to ensure the success, one should keep the following points in mind –

Interact properly

The majority of problem begins because of improper communication. To solve this, you need to make sure that you interact with each other on a daily basis. Every meeting or phone call should start with a program and end with a clear conclusion ensuring that both parties are well aware of the whole process and know what step they should take next. If any decision or conversion happens out of your schedule, you should capture all the conversation in writing.

Don’t be afraid to innovate

In case of long term engagement, it’s very easy to get the things stable. It’s very important to check where the work has reached to achieve the goal and to work together to find new creative ideas to get rid of problems. Finding creative ideas is considered as a very good exercise and the ideas you come up with, can lead into a great results.

Using the creative ideas and getting deviated from initial strategy can be a helpful technique for achieving good results for your business growth.

Be real about expectations

While interacting with your client for the first time, be sure to talk about the expectation one has for the other. From big decisions such as goals and directions to small decisions like feedback timeliness, everything should be written on a page. Not talking about the right expectation in the starting can result into disaster relationship later. Both parties must be clear about the expectation one should expect from another through the entire process.

See each other as a partner

You need to understand that working together as a partner can help to build great relationships. Both clients and agencies need to be open about each other. You should honestly tell each other when one has achieved some goal. Each team needs to take care of few things in mind –


You should not treat agencies just as an order-taker. Undoubtedly, you must have your own goals and objectives, but listening to their ideas can bring profit to your business or can give you a new direction you haven’t thought about


You should not consider your clients as an outsider. Tell them everything about your internal process so that they can understand you and work with you better
